My name is Sir Gawain and I am here to tell my story
I am Sir Gawain, a member of the honourable and incomparable order of the Knights of the Round Table of Camelot. I serve my king, the once-in-a-lifetime King Arthur, that king I would give my life for. But I remember I failed in my mission once. It was New Year's Eve in Camelot. There was a big festivity in the court, where we celebrated the great years we were living thanks to my King and his glorious govern. But this celebration ended when a monster, an horrible and terrifying Green Knight entered into the court in a green horse challenging the members of the order to hit him with an axe. But the resentful monster said something else. He said that he will give an equivalent hit a year after. The whole court was quiet and silent, everyone was scared and so was I, but in order to defend my King and Camelot, I stood up and I accepted the challenge. Therefore I beheaded the furious monster and then he challenged me to look for him in the Green Chapel a year after. Eleven months later, I prepared myself for the long trip and hard mission that awaited for me. I put my best armour on, I took my best sword and my best horse and I went to the North looking for the Green Chapel and the beheaded monster. It was a long trip and I will not lie saying I was not exhausted. But, thank God, I was lucky enough to find in my way a castle. It could not be compared to the magnificent castle of my brave King, but it was still fascinating . It was big and impressive, full of towers and well defended. I ask the lord of the castle, Sir Bercilack, for food and a place to sleep. As the good host he was, he pleased my requests and invited me to stay in his castle whenever I needed, following the hospitality expected from every knight. The castle was much more bigger than I thought. The inside of the castle was full of luxury and the decoration made it a really charming place. When we were having for dinner a delicious wild boar- it was obvious that Sir Bercilack was a commited hunter- he offered me to exchange everything we earned along the day. While he leaved the castle everyday to go hunting, I should stayed with his beautiful wife, Lady Bercilack. She was such an stunning woman. She had a beauty I have never seen again, a beauty I will not be able to forget, not even in my deathbed. She was very sofisticated and deeply polite and se had a kindness that could be seen through her blue and big eyes. Anyone could see her soul through them. It was really hard to remain loyal to Sir Bercilack when his wife came to my bedroom and try to seduce me. In order to try to not offend Lady Bercilack, I only allowed her to give me pure kisses. But the third time she visited my bedroom, insted of giving me one of her sweet kisses that I have loved like nothing else in this world, she gave me a belt made of silk which had magical powers and she said it would save my live when I confront the Green Knight. But soon after this, the belt became the symbol of my tragedy. At the end of the day, when I was supposed to give everything I earned along the day to Sir Bercilack, I did not offer him the magical piece of silk her wife gave me. With this act, I failed the vows I swear when I became a knight. I was supposed to be true, honest and loyal to Sir Bercilack, but for my disgrace, I failed. After this, I went to the Green Chapel to find the dreadful monster. When I finally arrived, the Green Knight was waiting for me and he made three movements with the axe. Only the thrid one hit me, making a wound in my neck. But I was deeply surprised when the Green Knight revealed that he was actually Sir Bercilack who built this plan to prove my honesty. So he hit me in my neck as a punishment for not giving him the belt. Then I had to return to Camelot, completely ashamed as I was for my lack of honor. But, thak to my mercy God, my beloved King and the rest of the Knights forgave me. In ordert to honoured me, King Arthur made the Knights wear a Green belt. That is why the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table will remain for centuries. That is why We will never be forgotten.
